#6 · PAR FOUR
(Stoke 15) A combination of fairway bunkers and unseen slopes, the 6th is a short Par 4 that can be as generous as it is unkind.
#6 · PAR 4 · STOKE 15
The 6th is a short Par 4 that can be as generous as it is unkind. It’s the perfect length to tempt you to pull out a driver. But the smart choice is to put the driver back in the bag and instead hit a mid-iron to the middle of the fairway. Decisions, decisions.
Tee Box
To your left lies out-of-bounds and a swathe of 6 inch rough that never returns a ball its owner. On the right of the fairway is rough and more of those perfectly positioned PV trees. The generous fairway includes a large middle fairway bunker that stands sentinel at 220 meters and another smaller pot bunker on the right side that demands a 60 meter approach from sand.
Approach
Find the fairway and you’ll be presented with an approach that is far from simple. The wickedly sloped green and its cohort of bunkers play much harder than the stroke implies. Go left and you’ve got long rough and a bunker with a nasty lip, go a little short and you’ve got more of the same sand to contend with. Both bunker shots will land on a slope that runs away from you. Misjudge the wind, go long and you’ve got a lovely rock-filled flower bed. Go right and you’ve got an upward slope with contrary grain to contend with.
Green
To make things even more challenging, the undulating green is not particularly kind, regardless of the pin position. The 6th is often a swing hole made for a classic low vs high handicap Stableford game. Both the 5th and the 6th are known to play a lot harder than their stroke would suggest. Good luck.
Water Hazards
Perhaps the most formidable and striking feature of Parkview is the waterway that runs the length of the entire course. The sluit runs the entire right side of the hole, so watch out on that side.
